MORPHOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF CISPLATIN-INDUCED TESTICULAR DAMAGE IN WISTAR RATS

نویسندگان

چکیده

Twenty-one Wistar rats weighing 200 - 250 mg were categorized into three treatment groups- the control, saline and cisplatin groups, each comprising of seven per group, to assess effects cisplatin-induced testicular damage in rats. The control group received feed mash water ad libitum, equal volumes physiological intraperitoneally with normal feeds water, while cisplastin 8 mg/kg body weight only for five days had twelve weeks before sacrifice. these treatments on total sperm count, motility, percentage live:dead epididymal morphology assessed. results revealed count as significantly different from (p<0.001), motile was also (p<0.001). Also, there a greater dead more morphologically abnormal forms compared control. sections showed progression spermatogenic germ cell series interstitium. testes seminiferous tubules atrophic changes, detached basement membrane epithelium, inflammed interstitium oedema, paucity Leydig cells, vascular congestion haemorrhage. epididymis lumen empty or scanty spermatozoa, necrosis These findings affirms reality severe gonadotoxicity associated use chemotherapeutic agent, especially male.

Oxytocin alleviates cisplatin-induced renal damage in rats

Objective(s):The purpose of the present study was to investigate the protective effect of oxytocin on cisplatin (CP)-induced renal damage in rats. Materials and Methods: Fourteen adult Sprague Dawley rats, weighing 200 to 210, were administered by cisplatin (CP, 2 mg/kg/day) twice a week for five weeks. Then, they were randomly divided into two groups and treated with either saline (1 ml/kg/day...

Sesame effects on testicular damage in streptozotocin-induced diabetes rats

Objective(s): Reproductive dysfunction is a consequence of diabetes. Diabetes is associated with changes in testicular tissue. Sesame oil contains large amounts of polyunsaturated fatty acids and lignin with antioxidant activity, vitamin E, and monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA). The present study investigated the effects of sesame on testis histology and male reproductive parameters in streptoz...

Pioglitazone abrogates testicular damage induced by testicular torsion/detorsion in rats

Objective(s): Testicular torsion/detorsion (T/D) is a well-known cause for infertility. Pioglitazone is an agonist of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-γ). Previous studies have shown that pioglitazone has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antiapoptotic properties. The present study hypothesized that pioglitazone may be protective against the test...

Captopril and telmisartan ameliorate cisplatin-induced testicular damage in rats via anti-inflammatory and antioxidant pathways

Despite the prevalent clinical applications of cisplatin, serious toxic side effects comprising reproductive toxicity confine its therapeutic efficacy. Thus, the current study explored the possible protective effect of captopril and telmisartan against cisplatin-induced testicular damage in rats. Captopril (100 mg/kg) and telmisartan (10 mg/kg) were orally administered for 15 days, whereas cisp...
